Hybrid-GPS

The globally unique Hybrid-GPS system combines the GPS position determination with a motion sensor. This sensor compares the camera's position with the map data stored in the internal memory – even inside buildings. The Hybrid-GPS function therefore allows exact location coordinates to be immediately assigned to photo or film recordings. You can select a name from around 1 million place names (country names, land marks) stored in the camera's memory and add these directly to the image data.
  • The proposed place names are selected from the saved names of countries and landmarks with the help of the current latitude and longitude.
  • "---" will be displayed instead of place name suggestions if there is no suitable place name in the camera's memory for the current latitude and longitude.
  • Incorrect place names may be displayed as suggestions, if you move while shooting an image.
  • Place names cannot be inserted if the "GPS" setting has been switched to "Off".

The Hybrid-GPS function is available for the model: EX-H20G

Before you can take advantage of the Hybrid-GPS function, you must first switch on the GPS mode and activate the recording of the location information.

If Hybrid-GP is activated, you can also insert place names and a place stamp into your image data (see below).

HOW TO ACTIVATE THE GPS FUNCTION

Take the camera outside and ensure there is nothing obstructing the light from above.
Switch the camera on with [ON/OFF] (power) and then press [MENU].
Select the "GPS" option from the "Settings" tab and then press .
Select "On" with and , and then press [SET].
Wait until the GPS wave condition indicator changes (GPS satellite waves being received).

Please note:
  • The initial GPS satellite wave reception can take longer than normal
  • If GPS is activated, the camera will detect the position data (longitude, latitude) continually while the device is switched on, and periodically when it is switched off.

HOW TO RECORD LOCATION INFORMATION TOGETHER WITH THE IMAGE DATA (REC. COORD.)

When "On" is selected for the "Rec. coord." setting, the location information (latitude, longitude, the direction in which the camera is pointing) detected by the Hybrid-GPS is recorded together with the image data (snapshots and movies).
Press [MENU] in picture mode.
Select "Rec. coord." in the "Settings" tab and then press .
Select "On" with and and then press [SET].
Press the shutter button (if you are taking a snapshot) or (Movie) (if you are shooting a movie). This will record the image together with the location information (latitude, longitude, direction) for your current location.
  • When taking a snapshot, the location information is recorded as soon as you press the shutter button all the way down. When recording movies, the location information is recorded when you press (Movie).

Please note:
  • You can delete recorded latitude, longitude and direction data again, if necessary
  • You cannot edit the latitude, longitude and direction data
  • If you are moving while shooting an image, the location information recorded with the image may be incorrect
  • The current "Rec. coord." settings do not apply, if "Off" has been selected as the "GPS" setting
  • The recording of location information is activated under the initial factory default settings. If you do not want latitude, longitude and direction data to be recorded with the image data, then select "Off" for the "Rec. coord." setting
  • If "On" is selected for "Rec. coord.", the camera will record position information along with any snapshots and movies. It is important to note that the location information will also be included if you transfer this image data to others or publish it on the Internet or in any other electronic form. If you do not want your image to include location information, please delete it with the "Delete location info" command, or take your original snapshots or movies without location information.

HOW TO INSERT PLACE NAMES INTO IMAGE DATA (INSERT PLACE)

You can select a name from around 1 million place names (country names, landmarks) stored in the camera's memory and insert these into the image data (snapshots and movies).
Point the camera at the subject in picture mode.
Based on the measurement data of your current position (latitude, longitude) the camera will display a place name suggestion (country name, landmark name).
Select the place name to be inserted into the image data with and .
  • Up to six suggestions are displayed for a place name
  • No place name is inserted, if "---" (blank) is displayed for the place name
  • If you select "---" (blank), the display showing the place name suggestions will disappear after approximately two seconds. If you now press or , the display showing the suggested place names will re-appear.
  • If a place name is too long for the display, it will scroll on the display
Press the shutter button (to take a snapshot) or (Movie) (to shoot a movie).
This will record the image together with the place name.

Please note:
  • The place name data inserted into an image can be deleted, if necessary
  • Inserted place name data cannot be edited

HOW TO STAMP PLACE NAMES ONTO AN IMAGE (LOCATION STAMP)

You can use this procedure to select one of the place names stored in the camera's memory (country names, landmark names) and have them stamped directly onto the image (snapshots).
Press [MENU] in picture mode.
Select "Location stamp" on the "Settings" tab and then press .
Select "On" with and , and then press [SET].
Point the camera at the subject and then use the procedure outlined in "Inserting the Place Name into the Image Data (Insert Place)" to select a place name.
.Press the shutter button to shoot the image.
This will record the image with the stamped location name stamped on it.

Please note:
  • Location stamping is deactivated when using certain BEST SHOT scenes
  • If you are moving while shooting an image, the location name stamped onto the image may be incorrect
  • Place names cannot be inserted if "Off" has been selected as the "GPS" setting
  • Important! Unlike an inserted place name, a place name that has been stamped onto a snapshot cannot be edited or deleted
