Norderstedt, August 2004 - With the EXILIM Card EX-S100, CASIO is pursuing new courses and presents a world innovation: the new EXILIM Card EX-S100 is the first and up to now only digital camera to have a "ceramic lens". The high-quality ceramics material is used mainly in high-end technology owing to its high resolution ability and precise light refraction. CASIO knew how to use the technical qualities of the innovative material and developed the "ceramic lens" for the EXILIM EX-S100. And as if that's not enough: 3.2 megapixels and 2.8x optical zoom - the small camera in cheque-card format 88 × 57 × 16.7 mm1) is faster and more impressive than ever before.
Technical extras à la EXILIM Card! Just a few simple touches and the lightweight2) is ready for use in approx. 1.4 seconds3). Snapshots are successful with the low shutter release time lag of only about 0.01 seconds4). The silver-coloured stainless-steel body is filled with power: besides its auto focus, the camera now also possesses an Auto Pan Focus Mode. The variable focus is supplemented by the new Auto Macro function, which makes the manual change between Macro and auto focus superfluous. Depending on the requirement, it automatically changes backwards and forwards between the two modes. With the so-called Flash Assist function, photos that have turned out too dark can be brightened up if necessary. Thanks to the Icon Help function, which gives the photographer a description of the symbols for the respective functions and settings, the camera's serviceability finally becomes child's play.
Besides these highlights, the EX-S100 has the BESTSHOT function. With 23 prerecorded scenes you can take superb pictures even in difficult photo situations such as at a beach party at sunset, landscape pictures or portraits of friends. One special BESTSHOT programme here is the Business Shot. Trapezium-shaped distorted side views of a presentation chart are converted into a straight front view with the aid of this polished BESTSHOT programme. On the other hand, if you feel like moving pictures you can record scenes with the Movie function with no time limit5). Every party comes to an end, so it's time to put the EXILIM Card EX-S100 "back in the bag". A lens protector automatically falls in front of the lens in the Off-position and protects the high-quality "ceramic lens".
Tempo and format make the EXILIM Card EX-S100 the perfect companion in any situation. Namely, the successful combination of old and new, round and square, skilfully continues the typical EXILIM Card design elements and makes the EX-S100 a high-quality lifestyle camera.
The integrated Flash memory of around 9.3 MB is available to the EXILIM Card user for data storing. This can also be optionally increased by SD/MMC cards. The transmission of the picture data is just as easy as it is fast. The photo files can be comfortably transferred on to the PC via a USB docking station. In addition, it charges the long-lasting recharchable Lithium-ion battery that provides the camera with energy. The EXILIM Card EX-S100 supports PictBridge and USB Direct Print Standard. With optical zoom and a lot of technical features, the new digital camera from CASIO is extremely small and powerful. The camera comes with a storage battery and docking station, a USB cable, a connection cable, a carrying strap as well as CD-ROM software. The EXILIM Card EX-S100 is available from specialist stores from the beginning of October 2004.
